Je suis très heureux de vous présenter la vidéo PRENDS TON TEMPS qui est le résultat d'une très heureuse collaboration avec Mario Trépanier, un ami retrouvé après de longues années. Comme, à mes yeux, toutes les œuvres artistiques traduisent l’état d’esprit de leur auteur au moment de leur création : elles sont en fait une forme d’autoportrait mental de celui-ci. Les œuvres artistiques reflètent autant la vie émotionnelle de leur créateur que sa vision particulière du contexte socioculturel dans lequel il baigne et sa façon de se définir en lien avec celui-ci. L’œuvre, comme notre esprit, étant un miroir d’une grande plasticité : elle permet à l’artiste de s’imaginer, donc de se recréer, dans une nouvelle version correspondant à sa vision intérieure du moment.
 
Dans mon travail en art visuel, la figure humaine (ou sa suggestion) devient une composante presque inévitable pour induire cette compréhension chez l'observateur et pour connecter émotivement celui-ci à l’œuvre qu’il contemple. Les figures humaines sous la forme de silhouettes m’autorisent à n’offrir qu’un minimum de détails particuliers et, de ce fait, m’ouvrent un espace de projection plus vaste et exempt des référents habituels.
 
Évidé de spécificités, l’intérieur de la silhouette octroie un espace de dialogue avec le contexte dans lequel se situe la figure humaine tout en évoquant sa propre vacuité. L’œuvre nous parle alors de notre rapport au monde, de notre dépendance au collectif humain ainsi qu’à la planète qui a donné naissance à l’humanité et la soutient par un extraordinaire écosystème d’interrelations entre toutes ses composantes.
 
Soudain, le motif même de la silhouette humaine devient un élément ludique de composition tout en restant ouvert à toutes les sources de projections mentales. Ainsi, la créativité du spectateur est mise à contribution dans l’appréciation de l’œuvre tout en instillant un espace de dialogue qui sans cesse pourra se renouveler.
 
 
THE HUMAN SILHOUETTE
 
As, in my opinion, all artistic works reflect the state of mind of their author at the time of their creation: they are in fact a form of mental self-portrait of the author. Artistic works reflect as much the emotional life of their creator as his particular vision of the socio-cultural context in which he is immersed and his way of defining himself in relation to it. The work, like our mind, is a mirror of great plasticity: it allows the artist to imagine himself, therefore to recreate himself, in a new version corresponding to his inner vision of the moment.
 
In my work in visual art, the human figure (or its suggestion) becomes an almost inevitable component to induce this understanding in the observer and to emotionally connect him to the work he contemplates.  Human figures in the form of silhouettes allow me to offer only a minimum of particular details and, as a result, open up a larger projection space free of the usual referents.
 
Devoid of specificities, the interior of the silhouette grants a space for dialogue with the context in which the human figure is situated while evoking its own emptiness. The work then speaks to us about our relationship to the world, our dependence on the human collective as well as on the planet that gave birth to humanity and sustains it through an extraordinary ecosystem of interrelations between all its components.

Suddenly, the very motif of the human figure becomes a playful element of composition while remaining open to all sources of mental projections.  In this way, the viewer's creativity is put to work in the appreciation of the artwork while instilling a space for dialogue that can be constantly renewed.
