Born in Montreal in 1951, I've been working professionally since the 80s. It was as an illustrator that I first gained international recognition in the mid-80s, and was represented in the United States for some fifteen years by two New York agencies.
Since 2006, I have chosen to devote most of my time to producing works that are closer to my artistic and human concerns. This has enabled me to create paintings, prints, sculptures and digital animations that allow me to explore my creative horizon more eloquently and express my vision more strongly.
Sharing my life with multidisciplinary artist Annouchka Gravel Galouchko for almost 40 years, we also frequently work together on a variety of important artistic projects.
For me, the practice of art is a vital necessity, enabling me to create, discover and explore the space of my joy and freedom. It's the way I prefer to share with my contemporaries. Concurrently pursuing a philosophical quest enlightened by teachers from different spiritual traditions, I respond to the fundamental question of Being by creating visual testimonies to my creative adventure through a metalanguage that never ceases to recreate itself. My works bear witness to this search, which goes from questioning the Self to creating its constant reinvention through evolution.
Here, in the ABOUT section, are a few writings that attempt to define my creative approach and my vision of Art.
My art, which can be described as graphic and allegorical, is a celebration of Creativity and the Intelligence of Life. It is a luminous refuge for all sensitive minds.

A fundamental and historical role of Art is to shape myths and celebrate their powers. When a society loses its spiritual markers, that is to say its ideals, only proposing to manage the apparent and subjective disorder of the human world by coercion and fear : it testifies eloquently of its decline.
The true artists, in the absence of a deep intuition of what is humanity and the planet that gave birth to it, condemn their society, testify to its insignificance, express their suffering, return to values of the past or become seekers in search of a paradigm worthy of adhesions.
I'm absolutely convinced that human societies have only been able to develop beyond biological parameters by the power of IMAGINATION. The latter makes it possible to evoke the vision of an ideal, and to create a noumenal space where this vision can evolve and eventually take form in the phenomenal.

This vision will always seem unrealistic to some, because it lies outside the limits set by the material context of one's birth. But it corresponds to our deepest, most natural aspirations. And we have little or no idea of the power of the fundamental impetus behind the evolution of the Living.
This is how humanity has transcended the limits that seemed imposed by the context in which it has evolved: because this is our deepest nature and our function in the global interrelation.
We, human, are creators who, for the most part, are unaware of our extraordinary power.

CE QUI DONNE NAISSANCE À MES OEUVRES / WHAT IS giving birth to MY ART
The subjects, questions or feelings that give rise to my work are :
The presence in the moment facing the beauty of the world / the search for joy / the recognition of the gift of my existence / confidence in the creative process of life, perpetually evolving in complexity, richness and awareness / elation at the extraordinary gift of creativity / the awareness of the intelligence and interdependence of all life on Earth / the need for meaning and sharing / the importance of honoring our roots / the need for silence and reflection to give meaning to my life / the realization that imperfection is pure perfection / questioning the meaning of death and suffering / our human insignificance and greatness / the essential vacuity / curiosity.
